Carrots

The whole range of carrots: bunched carrots, rainbow carrots, peelde carrots, snack and small carrots and organic carrots.

Texel carrots
The soil of the Dutch island Texel is special and you can taste that in our Texel carrots. In addition to its exclusive taste, the Texel carrot is also distinguished by the fact that it can be harvested fresh every day throughout the winter. This is made possible by using a very special and traditional method of natural preservation and cooling. The carrots remain in the ground and are covered with a thick, warm blanket of straw before the first night frost. Previously, this method was used in the Golden Age out of necessity. Later it turned out that under-cover cultivation ensures that the carrots taste sweeter, the quality is fantastic and the color remains fresh. This is why the carrots became famous as far away as the greengrocers of Paris.
Sophisticated technology
Innovation and sustainability are two important pillars within our entire supply chain. Therefore Jansen-Dongen is a proud cultivator of the Ice Coooled Carrots. These carrots are grown in carefully selected fields in the southwest of the Netherlands. The fields are known for their rich soil and excellent weather conditions. A special technique is used in the production process: hydrocooling. This unique technology has already proven itself for the desert cultivation in Israel and has been further refined and optimized by Jansen-Dongen. Our carrots are washed in a bath of ice-cold water and then transported to different electronic sorters. After this process they are carefully packed and transported to the distribution centers.

Import of carrots
Besides a year-round Dutch carrots, from February/ March also new harvest carrots are available first from Israel, then from Spain and Italy. This applies to both regular carrots and organic carrots.

Day in, day out, our growers are busy taking care of their products. Every day they give these beautiful crops a lot of love and attention to grow a beautiful product!

Clay fields below sea level
We pay a lot of attention to the areas where our products grow. We cultivate in South Limburg for the early harvest up to and including Dutch Flanders and Groningen. We also have clay fields below sea level so that the soil always stays nice and moist. This ensures a better quality, a more beautiful color and also benefits the taste of the products.
