Also for the onions Jansen-Dongen has its own cultivation. In the Netherlands this is concentrated in Zeeland and of course all secured with Global Gap. The beautiful grounds between the river Waal and the river Maas are used for the cultivation of the entire Allium family, so not only for the world famous Dutch yellow onion, but also for the red, white and sweet onions, shallots, fresh garlic and more.

To lend a hand to Mother Nature, we support the insects and bees in the vicinity of the fields together with all our growers.

Climatic conditions

For import, we draw on a large selection of different export countries. The choice from these is made per product and per period. For onions, the cultivation not only involves climatic conditions, but also the number of hours of daylight (the so-called long and short day onions).

Did you know that within the range of onion it’s not only the yellow onion that is so normal for us? Garlic is also included in this range. This entire assortment is widely considered to be the seasoning of every kitchen and there is an onion for almost every dish.

Strands

Jansen-Dongen likes to think along with you about the presentation of products on the shelves. Packaging plays a crucial role in this. For the onions and garlic there are several packaging possibilities, such as the beautiful strands in which different onions can be combined.
